Located within a quiet cul-de-sac close to the centre of Tunbridge Wells, Shandon Close reimagines a detached family home through a series of carefully integrated contemporary extensions. The design introduces a strong horizontal rear form that extends the house into the garden, creating a more open and light-filled arrangement centred around kitchen, dining and living spaces.

Large sliding openings, rooflights and corner glazing draw natural light deep into the interior while strengthening the relationship between inside and out. The rear extension is framed beneath a deep projecting canopy, creating sheltered external spaces and emphasising the connection between architecture and landscape.

At first floor level, a new extension above the garage rebalances the proportions of the existing house while creating additional bedroom accommodation. Externally, natural larch cladding, white render and standing seam metal detailing introduce a restrained contemporary material palette that contrasts against the original building form while maintaining a cohesive overall composition.
